Canara Bank to raise Rs 9,500 cr through Tier I and Tier II bonds

The fundraising will comprise Rs 6,000 crore via Tier II bonds and Rs 3,500 crore through Additional Tier I (AT1) bonds. The issuances will be subject to market conditions and requisite regulatory approvals. Canara Bank is an India public sector bank. As on 31st March 2025, the Bank has 9,849 Number of Branches, out of which 3,139 are Rural, 2,900 Semi Urban, 1,944 Urban & 1,866 Metro along with 9,579 ATMs. Bank is also having 4 overseas branches in London, New York, Dubai & IBU Gift City. The bank's standalone net profit climbed 33.15% to Rs 5,002.66 crore on 9.78% increase in total income to Rs 37,352.80 crore in Q4 FY25 over Q4 FY24. Board of Canara Bank approves capital raising plan for FY 2026

The Board of Canara Bank at its meeting held on 12 June 2025 has approved the capital raising plan of the Bank for the financial year 2025-26 amounting upto Rs 9,500 crore by way of debt instruments (Additional Tier I/Tier II Bonds). Further, out of the above capital raising plan, the Board of Directors of the Bank has approved the following: 1. To raise capital through Basel III Compliant Additional Tier I Bonds to the extent of Rs 3,500 crore during the FY 2025-26, subject to market conditions and necessary approvals. 2. To raise capital through Basel III Compliant Tier II Bonds to the extent of Rs 6,000 crore during the FY 2025-26, subject to market conditions and necessary approvals. Canara Bank trims lending rate by 50 bps; RLLR now at 8.25%

The new rates, effective from 12 June 2025, will reduce EMIs or loan tenures for borrowers, offering major relief to home and personal loan customers. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently cut the repo rate by 50 basis points (0.50%), reducing it from 6% to 5.50%. Its effect is now slowly showing on the banks. Following other major banks, Canara Bank has now reduced its Repo Linked Lending Rate (RLLR) from 8.75% to 8.25%. Canara Bank is an India public sector bank. As on 31st March 2025, the Bank has 9,849 Number of Branches, out of which 3,139 are Rural, 2,900 Semi Urban, 1,944 Urban & 1,866 Metro along with 9,579 ATMs. Bank is also having 4 overseas branches in London, New York, Dubai & IBU Gift City. Canara Bank consolidated net profit rises 28.30% in the March 2025 quarter

Net profit of Canara Bank rose 28.30% to Rs 5070.19 crore in the quarter ended March 2025 as against Rs 3951.76 crore during the previous quarter ended March 2024. Total Operating Income rose 7.54% to Rs 31495.57 crore in the quarter ended March 2025 as against Rs 29286.12 crore during the previous quarter ended March 2024. For the full year,net profit rose 14.80% to Rs 17539.62 crore in the year ended March 2025 as against Rs 15278.57 crore during the previous year ended March 2024. Total Operating Income rose 10.03% to Rs 121601.12 crore in the year ended March 2025 as against Rs 110518.76 crore during the previous year ended March 2024. Canara Bank gains after Q4 PAT jumps 33% YoY to Rs 5,003 cr

Profit before tax (PBT) jumped 31.52% year on year to Rs 6,451.96 crore during the quarter ended 31st March 2025. Net interest income (NII) fell 1.44% to Rs 9,442 crore as on 31st March 2025 as compared with Rs 9,580 crore as on 31st March 2024. Operating profit stood at Rs 8,284 crore in Q4 FY25, up 12.14% YoY. Total domestic deposits rose 9.56% to Rs 13,31,137 crore as on 31st March 2025 as compared with Rs 12,14,951 crore as of 31st March 2024. Global gross advance jumped 11.74% to Rs 10,73,332 crore as on 31st Marc 2025 as compared with Rs 9,60,602 as on 31st March 2024. Retail, Agriculture, MSME (RAM) credit increased by 13.23% year on year to Rs 6,10,127 crore as on 31st March 2025. Gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio improved at 2.94% as at 31st March 2025 reduced from 3.34% as at 31st December 2024, 4.23% as at 31st March 2024. Net non-performing assets (NNPA) ratio improved to 0.70% as at 31st March 2025 reduced from 0.89% as at 31st December 2024, 1.27% as at 31st March 2024. Provision coverage ratio (PCR) stood to 92.70% as at 31st March 2025 against 91.26% as at 31st December 2024, 89.10% as at 31st March 2024. CRAR stood at 16.33% as at 31st March 2025. Out of which CET1 is 12.03%, Tier-I is 14.37% and Tier-II is 1.96%. Meanwhile, the company's board recommended a dividend of Rs 4 per equity share having face value of Rs 2 each for FY25, subject to approval of shareholders at the ensuing annual general meeting (AGM). Canara Bank is an India public sector bank.
